The prompt for this week is…
Before Jesus was crucified on the cross He was cross examined by Pontius Pilate and Pilate asked Him a deep and profound question. He asked the Lord, “What is truth?” Too bad Pilate didn’t really stick around long enough to get an answer to his question. Maybe if he had, the Lord might have answered him with the answer he gave to Thomas in John 14:6 – “I am the way and the truth and the life…” Or maybe He would have repeated John the Baptist’s testimony concerning Himself in John 1:16 – “Grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.” What is truth? Truth is not more knowledge, truth is a person. Since the dawn of creation, mankind has been on a perpetual quest for truth, from the ancient philosophers to today’s college students. Everyone is searching for what is true, what is real, but what most people don’t realize is that what they’re really searching for is the True One.
Christ Jesus is the truth, He is the reality of all positive things. Everything we have and pursue after is just a shadow of Him. He’s our real food, our real joy, our real clothing, our real life. And Christ as the truth today is embodied in the Bible as the word of truth. So if we want to know the truth and want our living to be filled with truth, we must spend time in the word. The Bible can convey Christ as the truth to us and save us from walking according to the lies of the world.
“But holding to truth in love, we may grow up into Him in all things, who is the Head, Christ.” – Ephesians 4:15
