This week my Truth Tuesday post will be a short one because the combination of going to bed too late last night and no coffee this morning means that taking a nap right now sounds more inviting than sitting down to write a long post. The reason for the going to bed late part is that I have just started a new book, and once I start a book, let’s just say there will be some late nights until the book gets finished. The reason for the no coffee this morning is that I broke my French Press last week and so I’ve had to settle for tea…and tea just doesn’t seem to give me the kind of zip I need to get through the day.
But I did enjoy a hymn this morning in my time with the Lord this morning, so I’ll just post it here for you all to enjoy without too much commentary:The Lord shall get the glory If we will sing His praise, And angel hosts will listen When we our voices raise; The world around will hear us Give glory unto God, And Satan’s hosts will tremble And flee our conqu’ring rod. Our mouth shut up defeats us And wins the devil’s smile; So why not open battle And chase him all the while. By “sacrifice of praises” And shouts of victory – ‘Twill cost us but our faces God’s chosen fools to be! The world has never helped us To shout our Savior’s praise, Nor given Him the glory Nor lent one thankful phrase; So need we ask permission To praise the ascended Lord? Cry out! Release your spirit! Much grace He does afford! O brothers, be not silent! O sisters, cry aloud! The sound shall tell God’s triumph And blessings far abroad. Now is the time to praise Him, Yes now, at any cost! O joy in your salvation, And in His mercy boast!
Praising the Lord is the best medicine for those days when you feel tired, down, defeated, out of it. That’s because we praise the Lord for who He is, not because of our condition or situation. We praise Him because He’s worthy to be praised. When we open our mouth to “sacrifice” some praise to our Lord despite our condition, we are actually opening battle on the enemy and he is defeated! So yes now is the time to praise Him, now at any cost. Lord Jesus, we praise You!
Okay, now I must go rest my weary head…
