I’m writing this entry before January quickly draws to a close so that I can fulfill my self imposed quota of blogging at least twice each month. It will be a short one since CC will probably wake up from his nap soon.
Since my last post, CC and I have settled into a nice normal routine again. It’s amazing how maintaining healthy habits can make you feel so much…healthier. With the start of the new semester, I, along with my husband, have been endeavoring to follow the Healthy Living Program (HeLP) which some of the students here are following. It’s a program designed to help us all maintain the basic practices for a normal Christian life – spending at least 15 min with the Lord in the morning, daily Bible and ministry reading, personal and companion prayer times, speaking to and visiting people for the sake of the gospel, going to bed at a reasonable hour, and even bodily exercise (which does profit a little according to the Bible). I haven’t quite succeeded in fulfilling all the requirements everyday; but it has been a help nonetheless to have the requirements there as a motivation.
One thing the program motivated me to do was to join the Y. After months of thinking about it, I finally decided to get up and do it…and I’m so glad I did. A little plug for the Berkeley-Albany YMCA – it’s an awesome place! Not only do they have great facilities (a separate gym for women, classes, pools, etc.), but also great programs for kids, even as young as CC. They also have a very inexpensive babysitting service for members. I’ve taken CC there three times this week and he loves it; never once cried or even noticed that I was gone. On top of that, the Y also offers financial assistance for membership and childcare fees (which I fortunately was able to qualify for). It’s now our new fave place to go, and now I can finally start racking up those exercise points for HeLP. Hooray!
